Logical Conclusion of the Day: Also, as noted by Redditor Hank_Scorpio_77Batman Begins was released the year Obama was sworn in as Senator (2005).

Election over.

I just…I needed to.

In a phone call from the Capitol immediately after the State of the Union address last night, President Obama informs John Buchanan that his daughter Jessica, a kidnapped aid worker, was rescued by U.S. Special Operations Forces in Somalia earlier that evening.

I’ve decided my dream job is to be the person that gets to wrap up this phone call.  Like “Yes, the President is wonderful, isn’t he? I’m sure that Seal Team Six knows just how much it means to you that they saved your daughter.  No, I don’t think you’re allowed to send rawhides for the titanium-toothed dog, but I’m sure they’d love it.  Ok, so we’ll be dropping your daughter off on Sunday at 6, does that work for you?”

I don’t care how you feel about their politics, this has got to be one of the best things I have ever seen.

longreads:

U.S. soldiers returning home face a culture that doesn’t understand them:

The 1 percent tends to be concentrated in the southern states and among the working and lower-middle classes. With a few notable exceptions—such as vice-president Joe Biden’s son Beau—the children of the elite have not served in these wars. It’s a sharp change from the night of Pearl Harbor, when Eleanor Roosevelt told a radio audience, “I have a boy at sea on a destroyer, for all I know he may be on his way to the Pacific.”

Instead, America now has its first generation of political and business leaders who have not served in the military, and it shows. With the Pentagon ordered to slash spending as part of wider government budget cutting, military benefits, such as pensions, and college education funding for veterans are on the chopping block.

I’m very proud of the men and women in my life that have served our country in the armed services.  I’m not sure that “regret” is the right word to describe how I feel about the fact that I didn’t enlist, but it’s sort of close?

I just donated $100 to Ken Aden’s campaign because of this.

You know what to do.

Holy f*ck, eff, are you kidding me? (and yes, this is a response to the heinous act, not Evan’s donation - which I support and encourage you to do the same)

I cried when I saw this (not exaggerating). Then I donated $25. Can the Cheezburger Network form a PAC in support of him, please?

So Toby and I had a talk.  We’re gonna start a crime-fighting team to go beat the crap out of people that do this kind of things to animals.  If you’d like to join us, let me know.  Toby called the Batman costume and has shot-gun rights, FYI.

Also, go give this guy some love and let him know we’ve all got his back.

Well, here you go.

Love you, Mr. Tompkins.

When I next see PFT, I will kiss him on the face. He will say, “Why did you do that, Wil Wheaton?” And I will say, “Because you are magnificent.”

In an elegant demonstration of a historical truth, Atheists in California are refuting the notion that the U.S. was founded upon the Christian religion.

The new 48x14-foot billboard raised above 1526 Newport Boulevard in Costa Mesa, California, simply quotes the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli.

Anyone have their copy of the Treaty of Tripoli handy to verify?

File this under #AWESOME Les Misérables protest song in Madison capital (Flash mob)

A group of Madisonians perform a protest song from Les Misérables during the demonstrations in the Capital against Scott Walker and SB11. This was organized in less than 24 hours.

Any post that combines my love for musical theater and my adoration for people making their political stands gets an automatic reblog.

The fact that this is happening in my figurative backyard makes me even happier.  GO WISCONSIN.

Why are we posting this random map of Africa? Well, because, like most of you, we’ve been gripped by the revolution in Libya. And, like most of you, we are dumb Americans who have no sense of geography or proportion regarding the African continent. As our boss, GQ’s Michael Hainey, who passed this along, put it: “You think about rebels being in control of eastern Libya and you think, Oh, so that’s what, from here to Pennsylvania? Then you see France in that slot, it starts to hit you.”

Best media Tumble I’ve seen yet.  Go GQ!

Wait…so this guy didn’t just win a slot on the next season of Jersey Shore?  Then what the heck is someone so orange excited about?
…he’s the new WHAT?
Damn.  Because I totall thought a dude named Boehner was perfect for the GTL crowd.
